Internet of Things

Internet of Things

Over the next decade, the Internet of Things will be able to generate $ 1.9 trillion in logistics services. Right now 15 billion devices are connected to the Internet, and over the next five years, the number is expected to increase to 50 billion devices.

Internet of Things can be compared to an ecosystem in which objects communicate with each other, through or without human participation. The idea of functioning of the Internet of Things, consists of several elements and processes. First of all, the objects equipped with sensors are required, they are connected to the computer network that connects them. The sent signal is then transmitted to the systems that send and process the data, to allow the drawing of conclusions and making the analysis. The use of network-compatible devices provides benefits in 4 areas: monitoring, control, optimization and autonomy.

Using innovative equipment in the TSL business, benefits for almost all elements of the forwarding business, including the most essential parts. It helps to manage storage space, using appliances such as smart pallets and shelving. Internet of Things also helps with the transportation of goods – sensors in cars notice the movement of loads in a faster, more precise, predictable and safe way. They also help to control the transport conditions of dangerous or delicate cargo and regulate their storage conditions. In addition, the use of Internet of Things is designed to minimize equipment breakdown and automatically schedule activities to streamline the supply chain. Internet of Things is also involved in transportation issues, such as booking places at electric charging stations, automatic tolls at traffic localizations, and self-diagnostics. It also allows you to control employees and the logistics system.

In addition to the standard solutions in the field of Internet of Things, logistic companies seek to find newer and more innovative, customer-friendly devices. Audi, Volvo, Amazon and DHL are currently implementing an innovative plan to deliver the parcels to the car luggage of the addressee. Thanks to the use of appropriate systems, it is possible to deliver straight to the car, even when it is closed. By using the right technology, couriers can track their customers’ vehicles themselves. The special digital key enables the courier to open the trunk and leave a package for the owner of the vehicle.

Using the opportunities offered by Internet of Things, might be the beginning of transformations in services and commerce on a global scale. Business is an integrated system in which co-operation between companies is an indispensable element of capital accumulation. The development of one industry and its success can be immensely important in other industries. Expanding and increasing the efficiency of the TSL industry will have a positive impact on the entire team of interrelated companies.
