Great Britain is a very important trade partner for Poland. Therefore, entrepreneurs conducting business with this country should already be prepared for possible scenarios for the exit of the Great Britain from the European Union. The process of UK leaving the EU structures will significantly affect companies that have direct trade with British partners and support the flow of goods.
The text of the agreement on the exit of the UK from the EU provides for a transitional period, including the principle of “stand still” – maintaining the current state in the context of trade in goods. The agreed transition period will last from the date of departure of the United Kingdom until the end of 2020 and during this time the current lack of controls and restrictions will be maintained. However, if the exit contract is not approved by the UK Parliament, which is highly probable, the so-called “hard exit” in Great Britain, i.e. exit without a contract will take place as early as April 12, 2019.

In the case of the exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union without a contract – from 13 April 2019, customs regulations will be applied in the customs trade with the European Union as for third countries, i.e. non-EU countries. This means using standard customs formalities for the export or import of goods.
