Visit of the Minister of State Saxony-Anhalt

On 27 March 2019 we had pleasure to host Thomas Webel, the Minister for Regional Development and Transport of Saxony-Anhalt, and deputy minister of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation, Grzegorz Witkowski, with the ministry’s delegation, in the Silesian Logistic Centre JSC. The study visit was also attended by representatives of the Saxon government, a region that modernized its waterways in the 1990s.

The German minister declared providing the Polish side with information and technical solutions for joint ventures in the field of inland waterway transport. Currently, with the support of the Infrastructure and Environment program, the modernization of all six locks on the Gliwicki Canal is coming to the end.

A German guest emphasized that when it comes to road transport, we have a well-developed infrastructure, railway lines are now modernized, there is the time for rivers. – We needed 25 years and 45 billion euros to be in the place where we are now. There is a similar task ahead of you, but I can see that you have a lot of investments – says Thomas Webel.
