The Port of Gliwice

THE PORT OF GLIWICE

The Port of Gliwice is Poland’s largest and most versatile inland port. The Odra Waterway, which connects Upper Silesia with the ports of Szczecin and Świnoujście and is linked to the network of Western European canals, starts in Gliwice. The first 41 km of the Odra Waterway is the Gliwice Canal, built with the Port of Gliwice in 1933-39. The port’s handling capacity at the time of commissioning was around 2 million tonnes of bulk goods per year. The primary commodities handled were coal, iron ore and steel products. The current handling capacity of the Port of Gliwice is 1,600,000 tonnes of bulk goods annually.

According to the AGN Convention, the Port of Gliwice is catalogued under registration number P 30-01-01.
